Eden actually means “place of pleasure.” It was created by God, for His glory, all the while, allowing mankind to take full advantage of remaining in His glory.  It is where God walked with man in the cool of the day.  It is our desire, at eden:church, to redirect people once again towards Eden in a way that Christ is treasured as our all in all.

Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the Lord...The Lord will surely comfort Zion and will look with compassion on all her ruins; He will make her deserts like Eden, her wastelands like the garden of the Lord.

Isaiah 51:3

~ meetings ~

sundays ~

Beginning December 2, you can join us for corporate worship and celebration. You can join us for corporate worship and celebration Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Life Arts Center located in downtown Riverside, 3485 University Ave.   Our next mini service is January 13 at 6pm at the Life Arts Center, located in downtown Riverside, 3845 University Ave.   Preaching of the word, music, worship, communion and encouragement in the faith are all marks of our healthy gathering.  Far from perfect, but we are passionate about the truth and how vitally necessary it is in order for us to reach our goal of true “future change.” Again, we refer to this type of gathering as an Access point for all types of inquirers; a gathering akin to Jesus facilitating the sermon on the mount.

mid-week ~

Wednesday evenings are devoted to greater development and relational connection-growth at a local home fellowship.  Details and phone numbers for that meeting are available via. e-mail, phone or Sunday evening flyer handouts.  This type of gathering is known as the Courtyard and would also be akin to Jesus spending more direct quality time with disciples interested above and beyond an Access environment.

vintage.truth ~

We believe it is safe to say that God has called us to never cease from bringing a timeless message of truth, His glorious gospel, resounding in unchanging fervor and splendor, repent of our sorrows and return to the joy found alone in One whose Name and renown are the desires of our heart.  Our classical understanding of God is both transcendent and immanent, while we likewise adhere to the traditional family and roles of men, women and children.

modern.passion ~

Much of what drives our lives for making Christ known to our world is our love for the culture of the people to whom we are bringing Christ.  Cultures change, and pragmatism works (so long as it remains divine).  True pragmatism can never be at the expense of absolute truth, so we adapt the gospel (i.e., contextualize it) with modern passion to connect all peoples of all places with an unchanging God. Young, deaf, collegiate, professionals or families, we are all people in need of the God connect, empowered by the Holy Spirit.

future.change ~

Unlike Jonah, we’re looking forward to God doing a mighty work here in Riverside, looking to turn this world upside down.  But we also know real life change doesn’t happen because of churchy bells and whistles, but by the Spirit of God connecting and working in people’s lives as they are transformed by Christ’s truth.  A new dawn is upon our age, and many who were once asleep are now awakening to the call to proclaim a message of Glory contained in a Gospel from a God of love.

reformissional ~

Being reformissional is a way of life; it’s the Christians participation in enjoying and glorifying God in all facets of life.  Regardless of one’s place or calling in life, we are all called to live as missionaries in whatever culture or people God has placed us.  To be reformissional is to evangelistically engage the very culture that God has placed un to live within.  The believer who is reformissional employs the cultural practices that keep them connected with that culture, for the sake of the gospel, while at the same time refraining from the sin that that culture may have casually integrated into practice.

g3 factor ~

This principle virtually underlies all doctrine and practice we believe.  Short for the “Gospel of Glory and Grace,” the g3 factor simply reminds or instructs us of the uncompromising need for each facet.  The Gospel is what we need every day.  It reminds us of our depravity and of God’s absolute standard of perfection. It liberates us by pointing us, daily, to Christ’s love for everything.  Glory is not only what God relishes in, it is what we have been created ourselves to both love and boast God ward.  There is happiness and joy when we exalt the things we love, and ultimate happiness and perfect joy when God is place atop our desires; when Christ is our ultimate treasure. Glorifying God is His gift to us.  It is the means to the end for our happiness.  Living in and for glory is to have a prefixation for the new, the restored, the perfect, the beautiful, the cleansed, the Creator.  Grace is the wind in our sails of gratitude.  It is what makes anybody different from anybody else; it is, in the final sense, why we ever decided to give our lives to Christ.  Grace bestows joy and salvation upon its recipients and ascribes the greatest of glories upon the Giver.  Ultimately, grace owes its existence to the glorious plan of redemptive love put into effect by a God whose name is Holy.
